James H. Woodland was a farmer better known as "Sonny." At the age of 9, he started buying land and raised his sisters. He married Virginia V. Blair and had 6 children-- five boys and one girl. He raised all kinds of vegetables, tobacco, hogs, cows, chickens, and horses. He also ran a small county store at Marshall's Corner, Maryland.
